We also disabled all security measures that could potentially block access but issue remains. So latest rpm installed on CentOS7 installation. Home drive is on nfs. If there is anything I can do to debug, let me know.
Correct that is exactly what I did (well one of the IT guys installed the packages for me on my workstation). We will do another experiment with temporarily disabling some security measures (we trust you Matthias  )
Will keep you posted.
The package (+dependencies) has now been installed on a local machine and that shows exactly the same issue. I understand compiling is not difficult, it's just not something I am allowed to do due to the missing devel packages. It makes me believe t…
Packages have been locally installed but still the same result. I checked a bit more when it crashes on exit.
If I open an existing layout and do any of the following it crashes on exit:
* select the top cell under cells
* select any layer or laye…
Hi Matthias
Yes as you describe also makes the exit crash. I did the edit on top of an existing gds, so that gives the same result.
I unset KLAYOUT_PATH, and created a new layout. Defined one layer and added a shape. Still the crash at exit.
I use t…
Hi
I have the same issue on CentOS7.
It happens consistently when I either add one shape or set the context to another (sub) cell.
I close klayout by using the window menu (X) or File->exit
When I open a layout and close it right away, I do no…
Hi Matthias
It's indeed stock CentOS7 no compilation involved.
I use the rpm, but I unpack it and put it at a central location for all to access (on a NFS share). To double check I now installed it with the rpm, but get the same result
$ sudo yum …
Hi Matthias
I unset KLAYOUT_PATH and removed ~/.klayout. The issue remains.
gcc-4.8.5-16.el7.x86_64OS=CentOS7$ python --versionPython 2.7.5$ ruby --versionruby 2.0.0p648 (2015-12-16) [x86_64-linux]qt-4.8.5-13.el7.x86_64

Hi Matthias
klayout -style CleanLooks works like a charm.
I also installed qtconfig-qt4 and used it to force CleanLooks as default GUI style.
Indeed now klayout also works without the -style option.
It does make me wonder why only klayout does not …
Matthias found it....
The search window should contain a result field on the right side of the window. This field was minimized. To get it back you need to hover over a small bar on the right of the search window and drag it all the way to the left.…
Removed my ~/.klayout/klayoutrc file and it works again.
Now I get a field inside the search window with the results. It's exactly as I hoped for.
I send the file to Mathhias with a testcase to debug.
I tried:
texts from cells * where shape.text_string ~ "*clk*"
and nothing happened.
Sometimes if I use "Current Cell and Below" I see a lot of cpu usage and a progress bar (Running Query processing) that stays there for about …
Small addition. The same problem with instances (or shapes). I'm not sure how any result should be displayed (a popup like a result browser perhaps?). If I negate the search (!~) I don't get any response either. So it feels like something is broken.…
I did not build it myself, I used the rpm. The executables from the rpm (one for CentOS6 and one for CentOS7), I installed on a different path to have it shared from an NFS server (such that not all workstations need a local install).
On CentOS6 it …
The official reply I got from Mentor is that they have an OpenDoor program to share the API with others.
https://www.mentor.com/company/partner_programs/opendoor
So I guess that door is closed.
Cheers,
Theo
I have a DESIGNrev license (Calibre GDS viewer, similar to klayout) so in principle I can do without klayout. But I just like it more :-)
For instance tracing a net without having to run a complete LVS is so powerful.
I will ask for the API to be ab…
Yes I know. But if an argument is not working as the short -h tells you, you want to read the manual. That was what I experienced.
I think it's just a matter of updating the website by adding a link somewhere in the menu.
I had the same problem. It's documented though:
http://www.klayout.de/command_args.html
But please tell me how you can find this link from the menu? I can't find any menu item. I would expect this to be present somewhere under Documentation.
But Go…
All cells have the same size and rotation. I know one of the tools breaks up polygons or smashes paths to shapes and there is some cell renaming. That I expect to give a difference but nothing with an XOR. So it should work as I had expected.
If I …
Hi Matthias
Good point. I have to consider that indeed. I'm merging three top level cells. One from the P&R team, so standard cells and one from the analogue RF team. A third one is the ring of IO cells. I'm pretty sure I will get a clash and I…
Hi Mathias
Just discovered a bug when using an entry form the MRU. I have enabled "read options" to pop-up. But when I choose a specific process from the list it is ignored. It always opens with the process that it stored in the MRU. Can …
Hi Matthias
Thanks for your answer. May I suggest you copy and paste this to the manual as well. It would really help to understand the difference between mapping and display.
Let me explain how I use Klayout and why I started using mapping.
I hav…
Sorry to bring this up, but I see the same problem (and can reproduce it). I have created a technology and a layer mapping for a process. It does not contain mappings for unknown layers. The layout statistic report all layers present in the technolo…
Thanks for the pointer. That info is missing under "About Klayout". I expected a community to work on this project, it's open source after all. But after reading a lot in the forum I understood it's just Matthias.
It's 17 now. Using the button on the left did not work for me. I had to search klayout on facebook and like it there. That might explain the low number of likes.
