Hi Matthias,
Okay, understood. The odd thing, that I actually really appreciated, but might not have been intended, was that "oversampling" rendered smaller, softer, subtle lines AND stipple dots etc, making for a pleasing layout display…
Hi Matthias,
Thanks.
Some background...
We used to use a couple of paired 24" 1920x1200 VA Samsung 244T monitors. From 2006 they are still going strong, albeit with one or two electrolytic capacitors replaced, the cold cathode tubes never f…
Thanks for the suggestions and comments. My case in point is reconstructing a single hierarchical design when essentially the same design has been streamed into layer subsets from multiple databases in a foreign design system. In this case, append…
Hi Matthias,
Yes, just getting to grips with KLayout's DRC... In general it seems pretty fast at doing conditional selection (as above) or single layer dimension checks, but very slow at doing layer-to-other-layer dimension checks - is that what y…
Hi Matthias,
I get it - it was my user error/misunderstanding. In Cadence there was a ring of five views. Next was always available. If you reached the most recent view then pressing "Next" again would jump to a location five views old…
Ah! I just found differing x and y grids can be specified in Editor Options, Other Grid... e.g: 0.95,0.6. Thank you!
Could x,y grids could be incorporated into global grid list in Setup as well, e.g. 5,1,(0.95,0.6),0.5,0.25,?
Matthias,
Thank you for your quick replies.
KLayout Windows recall: better than my recall - I must be getting old - but not quite there? Previous State (zoom_menu.last_display_state) works reliably, but Next equivalent seems broken. Sometimes it…
Hi Matthias,
Okay, understood thanks. For one moment I thought maybe you had actioned an earlier request (to allow toggling of layer and datatype display to be temporarily displayed in addition to the regular aliasses)...
Cheers, Brendan.
Hi Matthias,
I was thinking mainly of a convenience option, instead of rotating the monitor or using a mirror to show something to a colleague. Many tools have a similar convenience feature, but they don't all agree on what items are affected by l…
Hi Matthias,
Yes, I think global options would be worthwhile. I hope it isn't too difficult to implement. I guess it would affect the drawing of everything including overlay pictures, so there's probably a lot to think about.
Best regards,
Brend…
Hi Matthias,
Aha, I thought I'd seen it somewhere. I think what I was hoping for was a simpler global setting, like the other programs have, so you can just flip and rotate the entire universe (=present window), rather than flipping or rotating pa…
Hi Matthias,
That works relly well, especially because of the way KLayout's selections can span hierarchy etc. I will pass it on to my colleagues.
Thanks!
Hello Matthias and Hans,
This thread is quite exciting, and the idea of a boolean approach, with the intention of also achieving the realism of Hans' famous program, seems very promising. Yes Hans, it is who you think it is, and I would be happy t…
Me too please - as realistic as practical, which means a good few masking operations and polygon re-shaping methods, plus a fairly complex technology description - a huge task unless you can find an ally... ;-)
Would all this be overcomplicated? On Windows you can already use drag-and-drop to load layout(s), load a layer properties file onto a layout, load a layout and layer properties file together, or even to load session files... I have have various l…
Drag and drop is very handy. Simply drag and drop a gds2 file, perhaps in .gz format, and a .lyp file, together at the same time - the layout opens straight away with chosen layer properties. Neat :-)
