when You do analog designs, and You place some cells like nmos, do You somehow mark the device with the designator of the schematic, like M15 as example?
Where possible I will apply the same instanceName when
I put the object. This can be helpful especially when looking
for rewires etc, "built in correspondence".
Now oddly, klayout seems to not know about "instance name"
(I find no property and fill-form does not ask).
So I end up putting text-layer texts on top of the placed devices
just to help myself find things.
in KLayout there are different names for instances of cells like nmosHV$17 (from iHPs openPDK). but i didnt found a possibility to rename it now.
then there are "User Properties" one can set via the "Object Property dialog". but i have also no idea what that good for.
