2.5D Viewer Feature Request

The 2.5D is very nice, thank you again. Is there any plan to add angles such as with a KOH etch in silicon for a layer, or rounding of features (doping, etc.)? Something like how xsection does this might be a good merge of the two (https://klayoutmatthias.github.io/xsection)

No, no plans for that. The feature is called 2.5d because it is an extruded 2d view, not a real 3d view.

Hi r_user_ant,

I found there's a cross section tool created by jwbos that provides functions that might suits your need.

Previously it was called 3DProcessViewer, now becomes xView.

This provides etch profiles with taper in 3D view, which I found quite useful in some cases.

Few findings:

• The app is free for evaluation with watermark on output image.
• Might not provide free evaluation in the future.
• Requires alot of time doing image processing.
• Camera angle cannot be changed freely like 2.5D view.
• Sometimes it does not work, but usually can can be addressed quickly by reach out to the author.
• No backside process, which is very commonly used in MEMS process
• Currently only provides tapered profile.
• Cannot do layer boolean operation in process scripts, can only use existed layers.
• Does not support gds datatype
