Cadence sample layouts

Hello Matthias,
The Cadence Techfile Import feature is very useful, thank you for providing it. Is it possible to read Cadence layout files ie: layout.cdb master.tag pc.db?
PCell functionality would be too much to ask for but maybe the ability to read instances can be done?

    Hi Dean,

    the Cadence binary format is closed and not open to the public. Technically, it's possible to access the data through the ITK library or the OpenAccess API. Both are not open source - the ITK is a licensed feature and OpenAccess is available to Si2 members only. So there is no way to include any of them in a GPL'd open source project.

    It's basically possible to employ KLayout's plugin interface to work around that legal issue. But KLayout is non-commercial and there is no revenue I am willing to spend on a Si2 membership.
