Where am I?

edited May 2014 in General

When I right click on a cell in the cell tree and choose "Where am I?", nothing appears to happen. I expect this should zoom to the cell extents or highlight the cell. What should happen?

    Hi David,

it should point you to the current cell in the cell tree. If you have a big tree and browse through the hierarchy which having selected one cell way below, you may get lost. "Where am I?" helps you to get back.

Ah. I misunderstood what it meant.

For very large layouts this would be useful, I agree.

I might suggest a nice possible future feature to have in this context menu though, might be a "Where is this cell on the layout?" which would select all instances of that cell on the layout (thereby effectively highlighting them on the layout due to the black bounding box around the selected cells). I'd use that a lot.

At any rate, fantastic editor, all is so well done.

    Hi David,

    thanks :-)

There is a similar functionality there: select the cell in the tree and choose "Tools/Browse Instances". You will be able to browse the instances of the current cell in the cell tree.
