about the DXF arc

edited October 2014 in General
Hi,

as my understanding, Arc is a basic entity in AutoCad tools.
But after read in Klayout, the Arcs will be convert to polylines.
In my cases, there are always some trouble about this.
Is there some ways to map the Enties to some kind of Pcells which reserve the Arc property.
when write out for AutoCad, May these Pcell be restored as origial Arc entites ?

any similar topics discuss found, please foward to me.
Thank

No. No way. PCell's are not intended to add features - they are a completely different concept and I am not going to mess up these concepts. If I would, I'd have to support variable-width paths, bulges, splines, hatches, dimensions, rich format texts and a lot features more.

The intention of DXF support was to provide import capabilities - to maintain the geometry of mask layout mainly. I guess you are trying to use KLayout as a AutoCAD substitute - this is not the intended use model and there are other tools out there for that purpose. KLayout is and will be a tool for chip layout and DXF support beyond simple import and export is not the design goal.
