Creating Objects

Very basic question. I am just getting started and when I try to draw an object in a new layout the box just disappears. I have checked setup, editor options, etc. but cannot draw anything. Any advice?

    Probably you are in some other drawing mode.

    The 2nd (I think) toolbar button from the left has a drop down next to it. Click the drop down and you will see all the drawing modes (add, subtract, merge, etc). You want Add.

    There is an alert dialog that warns you when you open Klayout and are using any other mode, but if you don't see that warning message then it was probably dismissed previously (while choosing "Don't warn me about this again" or something similar). If you want to show such warnings again I think there is a setting somewhere that you can probably find.

    Did that fix it?
