point snapping and relative coordinate

edited September 2013 in Layout
Hi,

Is there a way to pick up an interested point and set it as a reference, then read the relative coordinate for another interested point when the mouse cursor move around that point? i.e.

1. a feature that the mouse cursor can snap to some important point like the corner, center etc of a shape.
2. show distance (relative x and relative y) for two points selected.

Ruler can play part of this function but not convenient. KLayout should have the basic features already. Hope it is not too complicated to add this feature.

Thank you very much.

    Hi Tiboy,

I don't see the difference between a ruler and your request. when you pick a point and drag a ruler, the relative coordinates will be shown in the status bar. And snapping to objects is provided too.

What is inconvenient with the ruler?
