"Working" layer/ Show Cell In Tree

Hi Matthias,

When working with a white background, the "working" layer is highlighted in gray, as well as the option "Show Cell In Tree".
When changing the background to black (personal preference) via the Setup menu, these are not highlighted anymore (gray covered by black?), which is a bit cumbersome.

Would this be feasible to adapt?

Cheers,

Tomas

  • For reasons such as this, I use a pretty dark gray for a "black"
background which can still show "true black" features.

I think it's either #40 or #41 that I settled on.I also do the same
with the Linux desktop, Ubuntu's default manager is kinda lame
so I had to make a screen grab, turn it to black and then lighten
it a bit in the image editor and call it the default background pic.

It seems that grays don't get too much use in layer tables so
you might be as lucky with your choice as I've been.

  • Hello,

Thanks, this is a cool workaround. It's not that visible but better than nothing at all!

  • @tomas2004 I cannot fully confirm that issue:

What is your version and OS?

  • Hi Matthias,

    I'm using 0.27.13 on Windows...

    1) White background: selected layer and cell are highlighted in gray, layer/cell under the cursor in blue

    2) Black background: selected layer and cell are not highlighted, layer/cell under the cursor in blue

    3) Dark gray background: selected layer and cell are highlighted in (almost) black, layer/cell under the cursor in blue

    Cheers,

Could you try 0.28.10 (the latest version)?

I think some time ago I addressed this issue. I had the same problem on Windows.

    Thanks,

    Matthias

  • Hi Matthias,

I tried but no change... :-(
dick_freebird's suggestion is a decent workaround, using RGB 50-50-50 instead of black...

  • Ok, then I need to do some debugging on Windows which is painful ...

  • Looks like the behavior is built into Windows style, so it cannot easily be changed by the application. A special style sheet was a solution, but I know this is tedious and I'd rather like to spend my limited time on something useful.

A quick fix is to use Fusion style which is built-in. In order to do so set the following environment variable:

    QT_STYLE_OVERRIDE=fusion

  • Hi Matthias,

The quick fix works great. Thanks!
