Hi Matthias,
Is there a way to allow the cursor snapping to the grid while moving the mouse?
It is quite difficult to draw shapes or reading the coordinates at the lower right corner in the GUI.
Many thanks,
Martin

There are multiple grids you can configure:
1. drawing grids
Use "File/Setup" "Application/Default Grids" to specify one or many grids. You can pick one of them from the "View/Grid" menu during drawing.
These are mine:
2. ruler snapping
Set the grid in "File/Setup" "Application/Grid".
The different grids become active in the different modes. Drawing grids in the drawing modes (Box, Polygon, Text, Path, Instance). Ruler grids in the ruler mode. You do not actually need to draw something. Just picking a mode is enough.
The coordinate display follows the mode specific grid.

Hi Matthias,
Sorry for my very late reply, I did miss the reply notification...

I followed your instructions (which I've tried also already before), but whatever I do, it is not snapping to a grid...
Any idea what's wrong here?
Many thanks,
Martin
Could you check "Edit/Ruler and annotations setup"?
Maybe "Snap to grid" is disabled?
Matthias
I sense that the question is about the cursor
itself and whether its movement can be made
"steppy".
I believe the cursor movement is a separate
thing from the behavior of objects being
moved or made, by it. Those commands are
subject to the command-snap setting(s).
But expect those are -applied- to a raw cursor
position, rather than the cursor position itself
becoming "notched".
Hi @dick_freebird,
Cursor movement follows the grid applied to the specific tool.
This is best seen when you enable "Mouse tracking" in File/Setup -> Application/Tracking with a cross hair cursor.
If you do so, the tracking cursor becomes "steppy" using the grid applied in the tool you have selected. In "Select" mode, no grid is applied, while in "ruler" or one of the drawing modes, the selected grid is applied.

Hi Matthias,
Many thanks, your suggestion did work out for me... Also the steppy-mouse is now enabled (while using e.g. ruler or box etc)...
Following Settings were applied:
