I noticed a peculiar feature of one character of the "Times" font.
It displays fully, but does not space the next character rightward. Whatever follows, lies right on top of a "J" character. This is true for at least "A", "B" and "C" as successors in the text string.
This is not the case when I change the Setup>Text>Font to "Stick". Then it displays as expected.
I also haven't observed this with other "Times" characters. Not to say there aren't more, just haven't used / seen.

You're right ... how weird no one noticed. Here is the ticket for this: https://github.com/KLayout/klayout/issues/477
Should be easy to fix.
Thanks for reporting,
